Coach Charlie has been training for over 16 years and teaching for over eight years and has earned his Brown belt under 5th degree Relson Gracie Black Belt Phil Migliarese. 

Martial Arts is the ultimate discipline to him because it embodies the perfect samurai mind-body-spirit attitude on the mat as well as life.

My name is Charlie Vinch I've been training Martial Arts for over 16 years from everything from Maury Thai jiu-jitsu ,kickboxing , savate, boxing ,Kali, Silat , wing chun, And JKD. Martial Arts is very important to me growing up because it entails the mind and body Spirit. I've opened up Budo Martial Arts in Ewing, NJ, because I wanted to have a neutral place where anybody and everybody can come in and experience Martial Arts mentally and physically in a friendly clean atmosphere. Phil “Jiu-Jitsu Matrix” Migliarese III

Head Instructor 

Phil “Jiu-Jitsu Matrix” Migliarese III is a 5th degree Relson Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt with over 20+ years of experience in BJJ, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Mixed Martial Arts.

A Gracie Worlds and National Champion, Phil is a trainer, training partner and coach to UFC and MMA fighters as well as World and Pan-Am Champions. Phil is also a Master Level Yoga Instructor, author/creator of Yoga For Fighters and has many years of training in Judo.

During the 1990′s, Phil did an extensive teacher training at three different Gracie Academies: California, Hawaii and Brazil. He trained under Grand Master Helio Gracie, Master Relson Gracie, and UFC legend, Royce Gracie.

He is the founder of Jiu-Jitsu Share Online Community , Jiu-Jitsu Matrix (a video newsletter and online learning community) and one of the co-founders/co-owners of Matrix Fights Promotion Company . He currently lives in Philadelphia, PA and teaches at Balance Studios which he co-owns with his brother, Ricardo Migliarese. Phil is the Head of Team Balance International.






Ricardo “Animal” Migliarese

Ricardo “Animal” Migliarese is a 4th degree Relson Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt with 20+ years of BJJ, Boxing, and MMA

A World and Pan-Am Champion, Rick is a trainer, training partner and coach to UFC and MMA fighters as well as other World and Pan-Am Champions. He currently lives in Philadelphia, PA where he teaches at Balance Studios which he co-owns with his brother, Phil Migliarese. Rick is also one of the co-founders/co-owners of Matrix Fights Promotion Company.

Ricardo began his athletic training with boxing lessons at age 12 with his older brother Phil. Soon, Rick began to compete in in-house tournaments with favorable results. Rick began to take his own practice to the next level. In 1999, Rick traveled out of the country for the first time – to Brazil for the Mundials. He won the silver medal to start what would be a successful and impressive professional career

Rick joined his brother Phil at the Gracie Academy in California in the late 90′s to train with Grand Master Helio Gracie, the source of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.




Frank Llort is a Balance Studios Brown belt. He wrestled as a HS sophomore at 127 lbs, He had trouble making weight his Jr. year so his wrestling career ended. His interest in the Martial Arts commenced in 1978 while in Graduate School, he joined he joined the Princeton University Karate Club and studied the Korean art of Tang Soo Do, after graduation he continued studying at Jae Shul Shin's Academy in Trenton. Job and family obligations interrupted his training for twenty years. But he started training again in 2000 and received his Second Dan in Tang Soo Do in 2005. About that time he was introduced to submission grappling and began his formal BJJ training in 2007. Jiu-jitsu took over his time after retirement in 2008, becoming his only Martial Arts training because of the live aspect of that art. Frank enjoys teaching and conveying his love of the art to beginners as well as to more advanced students. Being an older practitioner, helps him understand the needs and concerns of less athletic, weaker players.



Carlos Rodriguez

Carlos started traning in martial arts at the age on 12. Prior to starting Jiujitsu Carlos trained in Goju-Ryu Karate, kali, Escrima, Wrestling, CSW, JKD and Boxing.


In 2006 Carlos began training at Balance Studios affiliate Komar Jiujitsu under 2nd Degree Black Belt Richard Komar. Carlos earned his BJJ Black Belt in 2015. and is Currently a First Degree Black Belt teaching at Budo Martial Arts 


Carlos has participated and won many competitions and even  organized the Garden State Grappling promotion in 2007. Carlos has also works with the NJ State Athletic Control Board for 10 years supporting the mixed martial arts as an Inspector, Judge and Referee at all levels of the sport.

Carlos is a father of two and works in Human Resources in Manhattan.
