F.A.Q. about martial arts

Coach Charlie answers some frequently asked questions

Q. What are the personal hygiene requirements  in Budo Martial Arts?
A. In Budo Martial arts we are dedicated to providing a clean and safe environment. Below are some guidelines for  jui-jitsu and Muay Thai students:

  • Wash your gi after jiu jitsu class! If your gi touched the mat or anyone else, it needs to be washed.
  • Keep your nails trimmed. Training with long nails is unsafe for your and your training partenrs.
  • Wear Deodorant. Avoid getting bad sweaty smell and respect your partners. Take a shower before coming to class.
  • Freshen your breath. You will be close to others.
  • Don’t  come to class if you have any infection, are sick or don’t feel well. Always check with your doctor if you feel or see anything out of the ordinary that you are unfamiliar with. Jiu Jitsu is a contact sport and you will transfer any germs to your partner.
  • Don’t leave trash on the mat such as tape bandages or similar.
  • Wash your belts occasionally.  Some students do not feel that they should wash their belts but they are part of your training attire and absorb sweat like you other clothing.
  • Wear shoes when you go to the restroom or leave the mats. When you use the restroom, wash your hands before getting back on the mats.
